Leitz Wetzlar Summarex 8.5cm f/1.5
Telephoto Lens made in 1952, coated,
with serial # 1008025. Only
4,342 Summarex lenses were made (about
4,100 chrome finished and a few hundred
black finished). Comes with dedicated lens shade, metal
rear cap and leather case.
Lens was just given a full 2 hour CLA by
Youxin Ye and his wife on April 1st. I
sat at their table the entire time and
watched and talked. See $ 150.00
receipt.
Glass is clean and clear, with no haze or
fungus. A few dusts spot here and there
on but a clean and clear hunk of
glass. Front element has a modest
amount of cleaning marks - scattered -
no swirl marks, not bad at all, but
there are some present. Aperture
blades perfect and dry. Focus
smooth. Barrel shows some signs of
use and modest wear. No dings or dents
or heavy use marks at all.
Would grade glass 9- Barrel
8 and lenshood 8 because it
is slightly out of round. This hood has
thin walls and is easily bent back to
round - I am just leaving that to the
next owner. Its very minor and
hard to notice.
Lens was tested on Youxin's digital M
camera and this lens produces very soft
images wide open to moderately
crisp images stopped down to
f/8.
